Citizenship
Actively participating in society
Nova Academy Zoetermeer wants to prepare pupils for active participation in Dutch society.
For us, citizenship means that pupils learn:
- to deal respectfully with differences;
- to take responsibility for their behaviour;
- to listen to others;
- to think critically and carefully;
- to collaborate with people from different backgrounds;
- to contribute to a just and peaceful society.
Human rights and human dignity are important starting points here. Every pupil learns that every person is valuable and must be treated with respect.
We want to help pupils grow into citizens who not only know their rights, but also understand their responsibilities.
Human rights
Freedom, equality, solidarity and responsibility form the basis of our citizenship education.
Democratic constitutional state
We stand in the middle of Dutch society and endorse the core values of the democratic constitutional state.
